Lemon juice is widely used for a number of things other than lemonade. One of its primary benefits is as a treatment for your skin. Lemon juice can make your skin lighter, and it's also been proven as a redness-reducer when applied to swollen pimples. Another benefit is its use as an acne scar reducer, which works in two ways: You can drink lemon juice to infuse your body with Vitamin C, or you can apply it topically to scars to reduce their visibility.
Step 1
- Clean off the scar with water and a soft cloth to remove dirt, dust and oil.
- Soak a cotton swab with 1 tsp. of lemon juice and dab it onto your pimple scars. The Vitamin C and acid in the lemon juice lighten your skin and infuse it with nutrients, gradually lightening the scar over time.
- Allow the juice to sit for at least 10 minutes on your face, then rinse with water and pat dry.
- Repeat this treatment once a day for two to three weeks, or until you see improvement in the visibility of your pimple scars.
- Wear sunscreen on your skin in the days following your treatment. Lemon juice can make your skin sensitive to light, making it susceptible to burning if overexposed to the sun.
