15 Tips For Oily Skin

An oily skin, as the name implies, is one in which the sebaceous or oil-producing glands are over active. As surface grease tends to attract dirt, an oily skin acquires a dirty surface film, that needs to be removed daily.

For this, we can adopt a proper cleansing procedure. The ideal cleansing routine is one that includes washing and cleansing. First the skin should be washed with a medicated soap or face wash using lukewarm water. This helps remove surface oil and dirt. Then we have to cleanse the skin, cleansing helps dislodge hardened oil from the pores.

Oily Skin Tips :

  1. Mix a teaspoon of honey with one egg white and apply thickly on the face and neck. Leave for 7 to 10 minutes and wash off.
  2. Mix one teaspoon yeast, one teaspoon sugar and half a cup of warm milk, cover and keep in a warm place. When it ferments, use it as a mask and wash after 20 minutes.
  3. Mix two tablespoons papaya pulp with 10 drops of lemon juice. Apply as a mask and leave it on for 20 minutes and rinse well.
  4. Take a juice of any fruit (orange, sweet lime, watermelon or papaya) and apply on the face as a mask. It cleanses the skin, closes pores and stimulates blood circulation.
  5. After washing your face, towel dry and apply a little talcum powder to your face. Talcum powder is oil-free and talc blots the oil on your skin.
  6. Make a puree of fresh tomatoes, apply to the skin before bath and soak for 10 minutes.
  7. A clay mask is yet another home remedy for oily skin since it absorbs the excess oil.
  8. If your skin is extremely oily, apply a few drops of eau de cologne after washing your face. This not only helps keep oiliness away but also acts as an astringent, thereby preventing acne.
  9. Take a diet that is rich in proteins, with plenty of leafy vegetables and fresh fruits. Restrict sugar, high-fat foods and junk food. Instead take wheat germ, whole grains, beans and nuts. Drink plenty of water to keep the skin hydrated and flush out toxins.
  10. People with greasy skin usually wash their face too often with harsh alkaline soaps, destroying the natural acid mantle so it is better to avoid that and use a mild face wash.
  11. Rub used lemon skin on face and wash after a few minutes to lesson grease and bring glow.
  12. Apply the white of an egg on the face and wash after 10 minutes with warm water.
  13. Make an oatmeal mask with a tablespoon of oatmeal and 2 tbsp. of milk, apply and wash after 30 minutes.
  14. 2 tbsp. of apple juice applied with a cotton ball and washed will help cut oiliness.
  15. Mix 1 tbsp of lemon juice in a glass of cold water and wash face with it often to get a fresh feel.
