We are taught from birth that washing our face is something that we need to do every day. Hardly anybody actually likes to wash their face at the end of the day and it is something that many of us forget to do. Even after spending years in puberty and battling against regular acne breakouts, washing your face is more of a hassle, especially when all you want to do is go to sleep! Here's the thing: you need to keep your face clean to keep dirt and bacteria from infecting your pores. Are you prepared to be the only adult you know who still fights acne every day? Here is what you need to do to keep your pores free and clear.
You should take steps to keep your hair from falling in your face.
Hair follicles produce oil, which gets transferred to your hair and then your face if your hair is allowed to hang in your face. If you have long hair that spends most of the day hanging in your face, the oil is easily transferred from follicle to pore which is how pimples are made. Sure having long hair is fun, but if you want to fight against acne, keep it off of your face. This is easiest when you wear a headband or pull your hair into a ponytail or braid. Your pores will be grateful!
Take care to use beauty products that do not contain a lot of oil. Believe it or not sometimes even your facial cleanser has oil in it! The whole point of cleaning your face is to get the oil off of it and out of your pores. It is important to take a moment to make sure there isn't any oil in any of the cleansers, cosmetics or other beauty products you think about buying. The simplest way to avoid putting extra oil onto your skin is to eschew the liquid based cosmetics and choose powder based cosmetics instead. When you purchase a facial cleanser, choose one that is not lotion-y and is more liquid than solid. Be careful and use your common sense!
When you do experience a breakout or some acne, treat it but don't pick it! Acne should not ever be subject to picking or squeezing. Leaving your acne alone is always the best idea. You can still wash your face and you might even want to treat some acne with acne reducing products but do not ever pick or pop your pimples. When left to heal naturally some breakouts might stick around for a day or two. What would your rather have happen? A pimple on your face for a couple of days or a pimple scar for the rest of your life?
Getting rid of your acne does not have to be complicated or cost a lot of money. Keeping your face clean is the best way to fight against breakouts and acne. Remember, though, that your face is sensitive so be gentle with it! You can give your face a great cleansing without damaging your skin![source]
