Fiber Optics Training Center opens Nexus Philippines

ANYBODY who has a background in IT and wants to pursue a highly sought career in fiber optics and get an international certification as fiber optic technician does not have to go to Manila anymore.

One of only two institutes in the Philippines approved by the international certifying body Fiber Optic Association (FOA) as training organization for the certification of fiber optic professionals opens early this month in Cebu City at the main ground level of ACT Cyber Tower in corner Leon Kilat and P. Del Rosario Sts., across E-Mall.

Get updates on President Benigno Aquino III's address to nation.

Anders Fleischer, Nexus-Net chief executive officer and chief instructor of the newly inaugurated Fiber Optics Training Center for FOA Certification (FOTC-FOA), said that local and overseas communications companies are in dire need of fiber optic professionals. Fleischer also conducts the nation-wide training of network engineers of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) to make them FOA- certified.

Juan Manlapaz Jr., PLDT senior manager and technical training division head, has confirmed during the inauguration that their industry is indeed in need of more fiber optic technicians and that they are ready to absorb those who are duly certified by the FOA.

Fleischer also added that the fiber optic training, on-line review and FOA certification will comprise 40 hours of intensive hands-on sessions. Flexible day and evening schedules can be arranged to accommodate time constraints. A new batch of trainees have just started last May 2, 2011.

An network is a world of connections. The strength of the network depends on all the little things you put into it. If you want fast data transmission, you have to give it the power with good transceivers such as QFX-SFP-10GE-SR.
