If you want some break from Skype, Whatsapp and Viber to try something new then here is one app that is able to make you happy. Tu Me is a new communication app launched for smartphones by Telefonica. Available for iOS users for the time being, this application features the similar functions to what we have been offered in the past few years.

Making free VOIP calls, sending free text and audio messages and sharing photos and even locations is what this app is all about. And all the communication history is recorded in a searchable timeline. It is indeed a surprising to see that a telecommunication company launch such an app but at the end of the day the users will get all the benefits.

The user interface is fine and attractive. Good thing is that there are no different tabs for each functions. Since it stores all the content remotely in the cloud you can see the history even if you lose your device. The communication can only be made with both party using Tu Me. The app will search your address book and ask for the permission before you are connected with a new friend. Users will see a pop-up notification when his or her buddy is trying to get in contact.

“We’ve seen the growing popularity of communications apps on smartphones but we believe we’ve gone one better with Tu Me using our knowledge and insights of how people use their devices,” says Stephen Shurrock, Chief Commercial Officer at Telefónica Digital. “Tu Me puts all your communications needs into one place, for free, and is a great way for people to stay in touch with those close to them. It’s also a testament to the innovation, speed and agility within Telefónica Digital.”

The app is available for customers using iphone at the moment but the company has said it will soon launch the android version of Tu Me. The app can either be run over the Wi-Fi or with customer’s data plan

The company says that over the coming months, it will use the ‘Tu’ brand to launch a number of additional communications services which its localized O2, Movistar and Vivo businesses will make available to their respective customers as part of their bundles.
