D-Link DIR-665 supports 450 Mbps Wi-Fi

D-Link DIR-665 looks to be one of the first wireless routers supporting 3x3 MIMO and wireless speeds up to 450 megabit per second. DIR-665 supports dual frequency bands and is now available in North America.

D-Link DIR-665, a.k.a. D-Link Xtreme N 450, uses three antennas that through three separate data streams and MIMO technology can reach new speeds with the 802.11n specification.

Previous 802.11n routers have maxed out at 300 megabit per second, but this year more new models are expected to come along increasing the theoretic max by 50%.

D-Link DIR-665 is the first router certified for Intel Centrino Ultimate-N and is also D-Link's first router awarded the Wi-Fi Multi-stream N certification.

The Gigabit router sports four TP connections for wired networking and operates over the 2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz frequency band. It uses D-Link Green technology to lower power consumption technology through active monitoring of both the wireless and wired network.
